The Forgotten Sunnah:- An Abandoned Sunnah After Reciting the Quraan

A Sunnah which a great deal of people abandon after reciting the Quraan...
.
It is preferred, on finishing the recitation of the Quraan to say:
.
.
"SunhaanakAllaahumma wabihamdik ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illaa anta astaghfiruka wa atuubu ilayk".
.
The evidence for this is as follows:
.
'Aaishah, may allaah be pleased with her mentioned that:
.
The Messenger of Allaah was never in a sitting, never recited the Quraan, nor did he ever offer a prayer, except that he ended them all with certain words.
She added that: So i said to him, O Messenger of Allaah, I noticed that you never are in a sitting, nor do you ever recite the quraan, nor observe a solaat, except that you wnd ot off with these words?
Yes, he replied. Whoever has said good (words) would have them placed as a seal over the good he has done and whoever has said evil (words) would have them used as an expiation for the evil he uttered.
(They are)
SubhaanakAllaahumma wabihamdik ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illaa anta astaghfiruka wa atuubu ilayk.

.
Unfortunately, these days, majority of the people (except those Allaah blesses) have abandoned this sunnah (either due to ignorance of it or due to forgetfulness). After reciting the Qur-aan, they replaced this sunnah with:
Sadaqallaahul adheem,
Or kissing the Qur-aan.
.
Thus, it is incumbent upon us to spread this sunnah so it can be established once again.
.
Imaam An-Nasaa'ee named the chapter of this hadeeth in his book as "What to conclude the recitation of the Quraan with."

Its isnaad is authentic as explained by An-Nasaa'ee in "As-Sunanul kubraa".

Ibn Hajar also mentioned in "An-Nukat" (733/2) that its chain of narration is authentic.

Al-Albaanee equally said in "Silsilatu Saheehah" (495/7) that "this is also an authentic chain that conforms with the conditions of Imaam Muslim"

Shaykh Muqbil Al-Waadi'ee mentioned in "Al-Jaami'u Saheeh Mimmaa Laysa Fee Saheehayn" (128/2) that "this is an authentic narration".

The Forgotten Sunnah :- Looking towards the sky

*Looking towards the sky *
.
Another largely forsaken Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) is looking up towards the sky, a practice which gives a clear indication as per where the mind and heart of the Prophet (PBUH) were situated.
.
‘Umar Ibnul Khattaab said that the Prophet (PBUH) said,
.
.
“Whoever performs Wudhoo’ with perfection, then looks into the heavens and says, ‘Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha ilallaah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasooluh’ the eight gates of Paradise will be made to open for him (!!) so that he can enter through whichever gates he wishes.”

(Narrated by An-Nasaa’i)
.
In fact, this was common practice of our Prophet (PBUH). The companion, Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari says about the Prophet (PBUH),
.
.
“He used to *frequently* look into the sky.”

(Narrated by Muslim)
.
.
His wife, Maymoona would even say,

.
.
“Never did the Prophet (PBUH) ever leave my house except that he would raise his glance to the sky and say, ‘O Allah, I seek refuge in You from leading others astray or being led astray, or causing others to slip or slipping myself, or behaving ignorantly or others behaving ignorantly with me, or oppressing others or others oppressing me”

(Narrated by At-Tabaraani)
.
The Prophet (PBUH) would also look upwards at times, even if he was indoors! In fact, our mother ‘Aisha said, speaking about the Prophet’s (PBUH) final moments which took place within her house,
.
.
“He then raised his head to the sky and said, ‘I want to be with the Highest Companion, I want to be with the Highest Companion.”

(Al-Bukhari)
.
Allah SWT would acknowledge the repetitive upwards looking of the Prophet (PBUH), saying to him:
.
.
“We certainly see the turning of your face towards the heaven”

 (Al-Qur’an)
.
It is well known that repetitive staring at a matter indicates the heart’s attachment to it. In fact, repetitive staring at a matter can be the very cause of attachment, and thus the obligation of lowering the gaze from the opposite gender.
.
With that said, have you ever noticed how whenever the “heavens and earth” are made mention of in the Qur’an, the heavens are almost always mentioned first? This is by no accident. In fact, in the verses that speak of reflection, ALL of them begin with the mentioning of the heavens first. Yes, the sky above us is special.
.
Allow your eyes to roam freely into the sky, particularly when making Du’aah, when contemplating over the Qur’an, or even randomly as you walk to work, and see...

1: How your awe of Allah will grow
2: How your awe of others will dwindle
3: How your fear of Allah will grow
4: How your fear of others will dwindle
5: How your dependency and attachment to Allah will surge
6: How your dependency and attachment to others will dwindle

A forgotten Sunnah:- Making Du'aa on Wednesday between Dhuhr and 'Asr

:: Do you know, Dua' is answered on Wednesdays between zuhr and 'asr...! ::

.
.

Jaabir Ibn 'Abdullaah (radiAllaahu 'anhumma) said:
.
"The Messenger of Allaah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) supplicated to Allaah in this masjid (Masjid Al-Fat-h)on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. His du'aa was answered on Wednesday between the prayers of Dhuhr and 'Asr."

Jaabir said: "There wasn't anything that was crucially important for me to have solved except I called on Allaah during that hour of the day between Dhuhr and 'Asr, knowing He would answer."
.
[Bukhaaree in Adab Al-Mufrad (no. 703); graded hasan by Al-Albaanee in SaheehAdab Al-Mufrad]

.

Shaykh Hussain Awayaasha (may Allâah preserve him ) said in his explanation of Saheeh Adab Al-Mufrad.

“The Messenger of Allâah (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated to Allâah in this Masjid (Masjid Al-Fath ) on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday”

Masjid Al-Fath: is a Masjid located on the eastside at the top of a mountain stump. A person can ascend to this Masjid by two routes; one on the east and the other on the north side. This is the general meaning of Masjid al-Fath. It has also been said that Masjid Al-Fath is Masjid Ahzab or a Masjid on High ground. [ Fadl 2/174]

“His dua was answered on Wednesday between the prayers of Dhuhr and Asr” .

Shaykh Al-Albani(may Allâah shower him with mercy) commented on this saying: If this companion wouldn’t have narrated to us that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made Dua to Allâah during this hour we wouldn’t have known.
The person present witnesses what the absent person doesn’t.

This ahadeeth has significant meaning; since Jabir narrated the information when exactly his dua was answered. And this shows that the Dua for the Messenger (peaceand blessings be upon him) was answered at that hour during Wednesday. Consequently Jabir began to do that same thing he saw Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) do on Wednesday between Dhuhr and Asr.

End of Quote from the book.

Ibn Taymeeyah (728H) said in his book “ Iqtedahus Siratul Mustaqeem (1/433), ”

A group of our companions and other people act by this hadeeth. They see to it that they call on Allâah during this time; as narrated by Jabir (may Allâah be pleased with him). The place where Jabir made Dua to Allâah isn’t mentioned, but the time period in which he did is mentioned.

The Forgotten Sunnahs :- Washing the nose thrice after waking up from Sleep

:Washing the nose thrice after waking up from Sleep.. ::

Narrated Abu Huraira (ra): Allah’s Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said:
“When one of you wakes up from his sleep, he must blow of his nose three times, for the Satan spends the night inside one’s nostrils
[Bulugh al Maraam, Book 1, Hadith 42; Saheeh al Bukhaari 3295; Saheeh Muslim, Book 2, Hadith 462]

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:
"When any one of you wakes from sleep to perform Wudu', then let him sniff water in his nose and blow it out three times, for the Shaitan spends the night on his nose."
[Sunan al-Nasa'ee, Vol. 1, Book 1, Hadith 90]
